Introduction of corn oil
Corn oil is a clear, transparent and clean edible oil obtained from the byproduct (corn germ) of corn processing through raw material pretreatment and pressing. It has the following main characteristics:
1. Common properties:

Corn oil pressing process
The extraction process of corn oil mainly includes the following points:
1. Extraction of raw corn germ
Corn germ is a by-product extracted from corn during the processing of corn starch, corn grits, etc., and about 10% of corn germ can be recovered during the processing.

2. Cleaning and screening of raw materials
The extracted corn germ needs to be stored in a clean, dry and ventilated environment to prevent mildew and insect pests. Stones, debris, corn husks, broken corn kernels, etc. will remain in the extracted corn germ, and a vibrating cleaning screen is needed to screen them to select raw materials that can be used for oil extraction.
In addition, during the corn processing process, the corn germ will also be mixed with impurities such as dandruff and coleoptiles. It is necessary to use a shallow tray or a flow trough to rinse it continuously with clean water several times, so that clean corn germ without impurities can be obtained.

3. Softening of raw materials
The moisture content of the corn germ after cleaning and screening is high, and the raw materials need to be dried and heated to reduce the moisture content of the corn germ to about 8%, which is the best. This process can change the plasticity of corn germ, reduce the hardness of the raw material, so that the raw material can be directly sent to the flaking machine, and rolled into the required thickness and maintain a stable hardness.

4. Flaking
The softened corn germ is rolled into 0.3-0.5 mm thin slices by the flaking machine, which changes the cell structure and facilitates the subsequent steaming and pressing. At the same time, the surface area of the germ formed by the flaking machine increases, which can improve the subsequent oil yield.

5. Steaming and frying
Put corn germs with a moisture content of not less than 12% into a steaming and frying pan for frying. When the germ turns brown and the nose can smell the aroma but there is no burnt aroma, the moisture content in the corn germ is finally reduced by 3%-4%. The whole process reduces the viscosity of the oil in the corn germ.

6. Pressing
The corn germ after steaming and frying can be directly put into the oil press for pressing, but the following points should be noted: the germ temperature must reach 115-120 degrees, the moisture content must be 2%-4%, and the room temperature must be maintained at 30℃-40℃. If the steaming and frying temperature is too low, the moisture content of the germ is too high, the cake is soft, the water vapor is very strong, the oil color is not right, it is white and bubbling, and the oil output is reduced. If the steaming and frying temperature is too high and the moisture content of the germ is too low, the cake color is too dark, the outlet emits green smoke and has a burnt smell, the oil color is dark, and the oil output is also reduced.

7. Refining
The corn oil after pressing contains impurities and is not easy to store. Therefore, it is best to refine (degumming, deacidification, decolorization, deodorization, dewaxing, filtering) to obtain higher quality corn germ oil.
